SUMMARY:Leadership Community of Practice
DESCRIPTION:The Next Question: A Leadership Coaching Collective\nThe questi
on you ask next\nMost coaching training teaches good questions. This colle
ctive works on something harder: the next question. The one this client’
s words actually earn.\n\nYour client just said something. Maybe a word th
ey repeated. Maybe a pause before the last line. Maybe a laugh that didn
’t match what they said. What do you ask now?\n\nCome with chat open. Yo
u will use it.\n\nAbout the series\nLeaders don’t only face change. They
face it in three ways\, and each one asks something different of their co
 ach.\n\n Transition. A change they chose or accepted: a promotion\, a new
role\, a move up. It looks like a win. It doesn’t always feel like one.
 \n Disruption. The ground moves under them: a restructure\, AI\, a policy
shift. The judgment they’ve relied on for years stops fitting.\n Crisi
 s. No time to think. The stakes are high\, the clock is compressed\, and t
he pull to take over is strong.\n\nThe six sessions work two of each.\n\nE
very 90-minute session runs on the same mechanic. We read a short agreemen
t between a coach and a client. Then the client answers\, one coach questi
on at a time\, and you build your next move from what they just said: the
words\, the pause\, the emotion. You type it in chat and hold it until we
all post together\, so you see what you actually heard before the room sha
pes it.\n\nThen we trace every question back to what triggered it. Some tr
ace to a phrase. Some to a pause. Some to a feeling the client never named
. Some don’t trace to anything\, and those are usually the most useful m
oments of the session.\n\nWithin a week\, every participant receives a sho
rt report: each scenario\, every question the room wrote\, and what trigge
red it. It belongs to the chapter.\n\nEach session stands alone. The vocab
ulary builds across the season\, so come to one or come to all six.\nSessi
on 2: I Should Be Excited\nCoaching the Leader in Transition\nA promotion
looks like a win from the outside. Inside\, a leader may be grieving what
they are leaving\, or unsure they ever wanted the new role. This session w
orks two transition clients\, one exchange at a time. Participants read th
e coaching agreement\, then build their next move from what the client jus
t said: the words\, the pause\, the emotion. They practice sharing observa
tions without attachment and learn to tell acknowledgment from praise. Eve
ryone builds in chat and holds until the facilitator calls “Post\,” so
each coach sees what they actually heard before the room shapes it.\n\nLe
arning Objectives\n\n1. Listen actively for a client’s exact words\, pau
ses\, and emotional cues\, and build the next question from them rather th
an from the topic.\n2. Maintain presence by recognizing and setting aside
the coach’s own advice\, stories\, and urge to fix.\n3. Share observatio
 ns\, intuitions\, and images without attachment\, using a hedge and a hand
-back that invite the client’s own exploration.\n4. Distinguish acknowle
dgment from praise\, and acknowledge who the client is being\, grounded in
the client’s own words.\n5. Hold the coaching agreement across the sess
ion\, checking whether each move takes the client toward the outcome and m
 easure of success they named.\n\nEarn CCEUs: 1.25 Core Competencies &amp\;
0.25 Resource Development (1.5 total)\n\nPricing: Included with ICFGA mem
 bership\; complimentary for guests\n\nSeries Session Dates (Thursdays\, 12
 -1:30 pm)\n10/22 Session 2: I Should Be Excited\n11/19 Session 3: The Jud
gment They Trust Most\n12/17 Session 4: How Far Is Your Client From the W
 ork?\n01/21 Session 5: No Time to Think\n02/25 Session 6: I’m Faster If
 I Just Do It Myself\n\n[box] Scott Drexler\, DM\, ACC\n\nScott is a leade
 rship strategist\, ICF-credentialed coach\, Federal Internal Coach\, and a

iability organization (HRO) science\, and extreme-context leadership. A re
